2012 is a science fiction disaster film being released in 2009 by Sony Pictures Entertainment. The film is an adaptation of a Mayan belief that in the year 2012 A.D. the world will end. This new age belief was created by José Argüelles and Terence McKenna in which they both hypothesized that on December 21, 2012 the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar will end its final cicle and lead to a cataclysm end.
