The components were originally unlocked by completing a number of tasks: * Hiker gloves unlocked when obtaining the RuneScape Road Trip journal * Hiker boots unlocked when obtaining the RuneScape Road Trip journal * Hiker hat unlocked upon completion of 5 tasks in 2014, and upon completion of the Skilling section in 2015 * Hiker jacket unlocked upon completion of 10 tasks in 2014, and upon completion of the Combat section in 2015 * Hiker leggings unlocked upon completion of 15 tasks in 2014, and upon completion of the Social/Minigames section in 2015 * Hiker backpack unlocked upon completion of all 20 tasks in 2014, and upon completion of the Miscellaneous section in 2015
