In the alternate timeline of Penda Dies, Neustria was the northernmost kingdom of the Franks. When the Mayors of the Palace gained increasing control of the Frankish realm, their base was in Neustria. From 687 until 751, the Carolingian Mayors of the Palace were the hereditary rulers of Neustria.
