A borogove was a species of fictitious birds mentioned in Lewis Carroll's fairy tale Alice Through the Looking Glass. In 2268, when Captain Kirk and Spock were being psychically controlled by the Platonians, they were forced to dance and recite a nonsensical poem about Tweedledum and Tweedledee, which mentioned borogoves. (TOS: "Plato's Stepchildren" )
