X-Quadrat (german for X square) was a German NDW band from Hagen, Germany. The band was formed in the early 1980s after visitin the club Ratinger Hof in Düsseldorf. Vocalist Volker Britz used to be at the Hagen based Punk and Wave-Disco "Neue Heimat". X-Quadrat combined Minimal-Synthesizer-Sounds with driving drum rhythms and squirky electric guitar sounds. The spoken sung voals of Volker compares to the early works of the German EBM/synth band DAF. In 1981, their first song "Information" was released on a smapler named "Alles aus Hagen" (everything from Hagen), released on Tonträger 58, label ran by former Extrabreit manager Jörg A. Hoppe.
