Sarah Yates was former head of operations for MI5. She gave Charlie Green the job as Interim team leader when he stood up to her after the former team leader, Hannah was assasinated. Through the series the team realise that there is a traitor in the midst and in the series finale we realise that Yates is the traitor. The series finishes with Yates shooting team member, Rachel Harris.
