There are three doctors in The Simpsons. Dr. Julius Hibbert is a general medical practitioner and the doctor of choice for The Simpsons. Dr. Nick Riviera is also a general medical practitioner, but is a quack. Dr. Marvin Monroe is a psychiatrist. Matt Groening did not like the Marvin Monroe character and had him removed from the show for much of its run, but he returned in the later seasons.
