In 2012, during pre-production of Muppets Most Wanted, Waltz was originally offered the principal role of the Interpol inspector, but declined due to schedule conflicts. Although the part went to Ty Burrell, Waltz remained in talks with producers and later found time to film a cameo in the final film.
