Prince Don Santo Sayd Vella was a son of Prince Don Giovanni-Maria Sayd Madiona and Princess Donna Valencia Sayd Madiona Vella. On the 18th day of September, 1696, Prince Don Santo married Miss Victoria Aquilina-Mercieca, daughter of Paolo Aquilina and Esperance Mercieca-Bugeja, at the Princes of the Apostles St. Peter and St. Paul's Basilica, Nadur, Gozo, Malta. Being Prince Don Sayd, Prince Don Santo was an owner and possessor of the old precious 'Sayd Princely Ring'. He was a patrilineal descendant of Sultan Mehmed II of Turkey through the latter's son, Cem Sultan.
