Maks Langbroek was elected to the Baltusian Senate in March of 2752 at the age of 27. At the age of 36 he was elected leader of the NDP. As the first gay leader of a political party since Clarisse du Monte, Langbroek said it was his goal to reform party politics and make social issues more relevant in political life. In 2768, Maks Langbroek was elected Praetor in a 59%-41% margin. He also gained 51 senate seats for the party. Despite losing the Athosian governorship, the party retained Gevaro and won in Terrarokka. When running for reelection four years later, he won in a 62%-38% vote.
