Polsky initially became involved with Friendship is Magic through fellow writer Meghan McCarthy, who had recommended Polsky to show creator Lauren Faust. Polsky and McCarthy had previously worked together on Cartoon Network's Class of 3000. Known for writing mostly comedy-oriented stories in the first three seasons, Polsky challenged himself to write more complex and emotional stories in season four onward. He has counted Too Many Pinkie Pies, Rarity Takes Manehattan, For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils, and Equestria Games among his personal favorites to write.
