The Escape-class Star Destroyer was a new ship design by the Kuat Drive Yards for the New Republic. It was designed for defensive and offensive purposes. It was equipped with many escape pods. These were as big as an Acclamator-class assault ship command tower. They allowed all the crew to escape if the ship was lost.
