The Sword of the Covenant is a large ceremonial sword that is used in the Trial of Agoon. 17-year-old Guild members undergoing the Rite of the Covenant enter into an arena with the Sword of the Covenant at the center and begin a fight to the death. The one to survive and gain possession of the Sword becomes the next Maestro.
