The Hornet close-in weapon system platform was an automated point-defense drone used by the United Coalition of Worlds in the later stages of the Cruentusian War. It was designed by Corellian Shipyards, and featured a simplistic droid brain (although it was advanced for the age) allowing it travel at much faster rates than conventional piloted starfighters. As the Hornets were mainly used for point-defense and were not equipped with heavy armor, this edge in speed was its only defense. However, this defense was greatly reduced when using its main armament.
