In the actual EastEnders series canon, this episode is Episode 999. However the BBC say that this episode is the 1000th episode because they count Civvy Street the 1988 EastEnders prequel (set in 1942) as a normal EastEnders episode. Although many EastEnders viewers count this episode as Episode 999 and being a viewer myself I shall count this episode in terms of the actual EastEnders episodes minus "Civvy Street" which have all been set at time of broadcast, give or take a day or two.
