Accompanying the initial airings of Sesame English were two variety shows that would air during its regular slot on Fridays. 26 episodes were made of each. On STV (in Shanghai), the network would air Are You Ready? and on TVBS (in Taiwan), it would air Sesame English Made in Taiwan. Both shows had similar formats and educational goals. They would reinforce the English lessons of the two Sesame English episodes aired during the week through games and songs. Both programs featured live studio audiences of children.
