Symbiosis is a process involving long term physical interaction between two or more biological organisms. Symbiosis usually involves a mutual interaction where each individual entity is dependent upon the other for functionality. In some cases however, one organism may prove to be the dominant partner in the relationship, with the lesser organisms subservient to the will of the parent. This form of symbiosis shares common traits with possession, but is much more invasive as it involves direct physical contact. Participants in a symbiotic relationship do not always have to be living organisms. Some entities can develop a symbiotic bond with technological constructs or other non-living materials.
