Marsfoods was founded by Elias Wintergreen on reference stardate 2/0907.4; its chartering organization became the Securities and Exchange Commission of the United Federation of Planets. Mars Foods Incorporated chose to advertise in Spacelanes, a periodical publication in the late 23rd century. The Mars Foods ad had the tagline "We're not Beatrice".
