Many of the world's monarchies were destroyed in the Doomsday event. However, the idea of monarchy remains alive and relevant today. Surviving monarchs in many countries led their nations' rebuilding. In other places, dynasties were founded or restored as part of the process of creating new national identities. Monarchies are most numerous, as they were before the war, in Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, although Central Asia is home to several, and there are two in the Caribbean and a few in Africa, the Pacific, and North America. This page lists known monarchs around the world.
