While Jake is preparing to go back to Judith’s with Alan, Charlie prepares to woo Tiffany later that night using Jake’s things to show her that he is a ‘family guy’. Just before leaving, Jake hears Charlie saying, “If you have someone to clean your house and do your shopping, and you get some action on a regular basis, the only reason you need a wife is if you have some sick compulsion to give away half your stuff”. This gets in Jake’s head, and when he gets back to Judith’s, he repeats the same to Judith’s support group.
