The Sentient Segregation Act was an decree made by Emperor Palpatine during his reign as Emperor. It declared that all sentients living in Imperial City were to be separated into different neighborhoods and boroughs based on species. It was created mostly due to the xenophobic violence between species. The punishments for those who disobeyed the act were harsh. Many of them were imprisoned, tortured, or executed.
