The Piranha Plant is an Item introduced in Mario Kart 8. Once equipped, a small pot with wheels appears in front of the user's Kart. Inside the pot sits a Piranha Plant that will automatically chomp at anything- enemy Items, Coins, other opponents, or even at nothing (which gives the user a small boost of speed, about equivalent to a Mini-Turbo). It has a time limit which depletes faster every time it bites. You can press ZL to make it bite constantly.
