Ballarat has alot of history. Ballarat was a very famous gold mining town. There was alot of Gold discovered there in the 1800's and many people became rich. Ballarat is also famous for the only ever civil war to happen within Australia, known as the Eureka Rebellion, which occured in December 1854. If ever in Ballarat, you should visit Sovereign Hill to get a real taste of how Australia was back in the 1800s.
