Amandil was the last lord of Andúnië and the father of Elendil. He was the leader of the Faithful and resisted the seductions of Sauron, but at last, seeing that doom was fast approaching, he counseled his followers to take their ships to Middle-earth. Amandil himself sailed to Aman to beg the Valar for mercy; he was never heard from again.
