By the year 2379, the Mercutio was under the command of Captain Kaufman. In this year, the Mercutio "went rogue" after being attacked by other Federation starships. However, the Mercutio was finally stood down after the COs of one of the vessels she was attacking was able to talk reason into Kaufman. (ST video game: Starfleet Command III) No definitive final fate has been established for that ship as it was not seen after the Federation campaign in Starfleet Command III.
