The USS Tau (NCC-1871-D) was an modified Federation Prometheus-class battleship in service in the late 24th century and the direct successor of the USS Tau-C. The Tau was under the command of Captain Julius E. Olson. In 2381 during the Borg invasion, the Tau protected Starbase 74 from a Borg attack.
