Derrick Thompson was an Earthforce telepath. A later, Derrick was raised as a mundane and didn't manifest his latent talent until he was twelve. As was the law at the time Derrick joined Psi Corps and entered the Academy. Following the end of the Telepath War Thompson chose to join Earthforce under the new rules. In 2271 Thompson was stationed at the Bue Atoll EF base on Maui colony where he ran into and was attacked by the fugitive war criminal Alfred Bester.
