As Mutsumi’s apartment catches fire and burns to the ground on New Year Eve, Keitaro suggests that she go to the local temple to have her bad luck cleansed, however, with Motoko leading the cleansing ritual the girls conclude that Keitaro is the source of Mutsumi and Naru’s misfortunes and attempt to “cleanse” him from their misery.
