Factions are groups of people who, in addition to their own basic needs for happiness, have political demands that need satisfying in order to make them truly happy. There are 8 factions present on the island. * The Capitalists * The Communists * The Intellectuals * The Religious * The Militarists * The Environmentalists * The Nationalists * The Loyalists Each faction has a noted rivalry with the others. The rivalries between the Capitalists and the Communists as well between the Intellectuals and the Religious are especially strong.
