Skyfall is a 2012 action film directed by Sam Mendes and written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and John Logan. It is the 23rd James Bond film produced by EON Productions and was released to much fanfare in the film franchise's 50th Anniversary year. The film tied with Zero Dark Thirty for Best Sound Editing at the 85th Academy Awards
