The Scrutan Coastal Route is a lesser-used and mysterious path taken by Roam-Beast on rare occasions. It bypasses the Heban Well to stay along the slow coastal path of Scrutany, passing straight from the Sproletan to the Pygran Well. The progress of Roam-Beast is so slow that the path, although only sixty-five miles or so – a good fifty miles shorter than the route through the Heban Well – it takes exactly the same number of days (twenty-seven). Students of World-Beasts cannot work out why Roam-Beast would ever use this route, but it still does on occasion.
