The front should have Jefferson facing left and the date at his right. On the rear, there should be the Monticello, which has a FIVE CENTS in the middle along with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The S mintmark appears on the right of the Monticello. The rims are not reeded. This was the last S-minted Jefferson nickel until the 1968-1970 run of S-mint nickels were produced. A few of these coins exist with an S punched over a D, these coins command a premium over normal 1954-S nickels.
