The Videssian Academy in Videssos the city was the main center of study for intellectual disciples such as philosophy, mathematics and wizardry as well as theology. The Academy was located in a four story grey sandstone building on the northern edge of the imperial palace complex. Although both secular and religious knowledge were taught, the building was topped with a spire and a golden sphere like any temple to Phos. Nepos, a priest of Phos, was a chair in sorcery at the Academy.
