George McNeillage was born in Scotland but spent most of his working life in Plimmerton as a building inspector with the Porirua City Council. In July 2010, the Plimmerton Residents' Association issued the following notice: "It is with great sadness that we pass on to the Plimmerton Community the passing of George McNeillage on 15th July. George was a member of the PRA for an outstanding 41 years and was made an honorary life member. There will be a memorial service for George in the Plimmerton Pavilion on Wednesday 21 July ... "
