This unnamed army was assembled by the Senior Partners to destroy the Angel Investigations team proceeding their murders of Marcus Hamilton and the Circle of the Black Thorn. Furious at Angel's betrayal, the Partners rescinded his contract with the firm, destroyed the the L.A. branch, and sent this vast army of demons, giants, and dragons after the surviving members of Team Angel, though this was only the tip of the iceberg in their revenge schemes; during the battle, the Partners sent the city of L.A. itself to Hell.
