A tie rod is a part of the steering mechanism of a tractor. They are slender, solid bars used to connect the front axle and wheels to the middle of the tractor. The spokes of a bike or a Ferris wheel work similarly and are also known as tie rods. Tie rods may also be known as steering rods.
