Biotex was inhabited a race of sentient beings (known as the Biotexans) who had evolved robotic physiology that allowed them to survive the lethal conditions of the planet. When the Bem scientist Ceneca-9009 visited Biotex, she saw the metallic Biotexans and believed that they had been wrongfully transformed into this state. Intending to turn them back to creatures of flesh, which she believed was their natural state, Ceneca created the Derobotizer machine and used it. She was successful, but the process left the Biotexans vulnerable to the microbes. By the time she realized her mistake, they were all dead, and the Derobotizer was outlawed as a result.
