A plug-in standard developed by MOTU for its Digital Performer sequencer package. For the first several years that Digital Performer was on the market, MOTU refused to open the standard up to other software makers, with the result being that the format was not widely adopted. Today, support for MAS still lags behind other formats such as VST.
