Virginia grew up to become a noted theatre actress appearing in several Broadway plays. In a Tony nominated performance, she played Abigail Adams in the musical 1776, later playing the same part in the movie adaptation (along with another Dark Shadows alum, David Ford). She died of cancer in New York City at the age of 42.
