Cherubs are angelic beings that are sent as ambassadors of love. They are usually human in appearance and have wings that enable them to fly, although beings of other races can temporarily assume this form. They are armed with a bow and a quiver of special heart-tipped arrows that are used to penetrate a person's heart so that they could feel love, although some of their targets have hearts that are so hard that their arrows cannot penetrate them. Cupid was a cherub that appeared on occasion during the run of the Smurfs cartoon show.
