WRTJ-TV is a commercial-free television station located in New Britain, CT, and serves the Hartford area. It is affiliated with RTE's kids channel RTÉjr, and operates on channel 5. It is owned by Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ), and operated by KIVO Television Group. WRTJ-TV also operates a satellite station WQWN-TV broadcasting on channel 10 in Waterbury and New Haven, CT. It began broadcasting in 1971 as a independent station under the call letters WHQ-TV and it was owned by Hartford Home Television, Inc., RTÉ purchased the station in 1991 and changed its call letters to WRTJ-TV in 2010.
