The Axe is a tool in Harvest Moon 64. It is one of the five upgradeable tools that start in the character's inventory. The axe is used to destroy tree stumps. Each stump yields six lumber, which is automatically sent to the player's woodpile. Lumber is needed to build home extensions and can be used to construct fences. Stumps require six strikes to destroy; this is reduced to two for the second upgrade and one for the final. The axe upgrades every 450 uses, for a maximum of two times.
