On orders from the Galaxy Alliance the S.S. Explorer heads to Planet Neb to investigate it. Commander Hazar's father, Chancellor Mozak contacts him and reminds him of the true emergency they are facing, and that fighting the Galaxy Alliance is just a distraction.
