An old man finds a baby girl in a basket, in the middle of a bamboo forest. He took the baby to his wife, and they raised her as their own grandchild naming her Kaguya-hime (Princess Kaguya). As time passed the girl started to worry that her adoptive grandparents would leave her alone, and she rejected their love. Also, enchanted by her beauty, several men came to her house with presents and flowers, but she rejected them too. Kaguya's problem was that she couldn't believe someone else loved her. This song is based on a Japanese folktale called The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter.
