Shel Goldstein is a Canadian actress intermittently active in politics. She was born in Toronto, and was educated at McGill University and York University. While continuing to play roles in film, television, theatre, and advertising, she stood for the now-defunct National Party of Canada in Willowdale for the 1993 election. The party's key policy was opposition to the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, a cause that Goldstein strongly supports. Following the collapse of the National Party, she transferred her support to the Green Party. She ran as its candidate for Eglinton—Lawrence in the 2004 federal election, and received 1,924 votes (4.09%) for a fourth-place finish against Liberal incumbent Joseph Volpe.
