The Abbé class PT destroyer was a type of starship on active duty in Starfleet during at least the late 23rd and early 24th centuries. They were first commissioned ca. 2274. The class featured a so-called "photon hull" with eight tubes that was able to deploy a barrage of photon torpedoes or probes, depending on mission requirements. Abbé-class starships had a crew complement of 401. Their maximum velocity was warp factor 9 and, in addition to the torpedo bays, had 12 phaser emplacements. {Jackill's Starfleet Reference Manual: Ships of the Fleet, vol. 1 [revised]) Each Abbe class Vessel was equipped with four highly armored shuttlecraft for transportation of personnel during hostile engagements.
