Lyla Addison was the scion of an extremely rich and influential New York family, who was found dead in the trunk of her car by police officers, in a case which initiated the events of "Law & Murder". The members of the jury in the trial of Otis Williams for her murder included Joe McUsic, who had pertinent information confirming Williams' innocence, and bribed his way onto the jury to try to prevent a miscarriage of justice. McUsic could not simply come forward with the evidence because his brother, Eddie was entangled in the events.
