Records claim that in 108 BCE Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty established the Lelang Commandery in northern Korea. They did not "conquer" all of Korea, though. They did not move into the southern part of the Korean peninsula, but the presence of the commanderies in the north had social, cultural, and technological effects on the southern peninsula.
