The Motisi Mafia family is a historical Mafia clan from the Pagliarelli area in Palermo. The Mafia roots of the family go back to the late 19th century. A Motisi was mentioned already in 1937 as the Mafia boss of Pagliarelli by Melchiorre Allegra, a mafioso physician who became an informant when he was arrested. Lorenzo Motisi sat on the first Sicilian Mafia Commission for the Pagliarelli mandamento (Palermo). Ignazio Motisi sat on the Sicilian Mafia Commission at the end of the 1970s for the Pagliarelli mandamento (Palermo). Matteo Motisi (Palermo, April 16, 1918 – September 5, 2003) became a member of the Commission in 1983, as a result of the re-organization after the Second Mafia War.
