The Darvans were a relatively primitive species from Darvo, a world within the vicinity of Ectidarvo and Romoni. They had developed telescopes prior to their industrial age and discovered Ectidarvo using them, even deducing the planet's status as a carbon/diamond world and recording its position on stone tablets. They were rendered extinct after a large asteroid collided with their homeworld, choking the planet with dust and causing a frigid winter that lasted years. Darvo meant "world" in their primary language, and Ectidarvo meant "shimmering world".
